Position Description

Position Title: Family Wellbeing Officer

Locations: 4 x Rockhampton, 2 x Hervey Bay, 2 x Burnett, 3 x Bundaberg, 2 x Woorabinda, 1 x Emerald, 1 x Longreach

Employment Status: Fulltime Contract – Remuneration – SACS Award 2010 – $54K + salary sacrifice benefits

 

Reporting to Senior Community Development Practitioner or Community Development Manager
Liaises with internally Senior Management Team, Family Wellbeing Service Team , Child Protection Teams, Community Support Team and other CQID employees.
Liaises with externally Referred Clients and their Families , Child Safety Service Centres  , Secondary Service Organisations, Health Agencies , Education Departments , Community Stakeholder, Community Elders and Peer Supports.  
Purpose of the Position
  • To provide front line case management to achieve better outcomes in accordance with the goals of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
  • Participate in assessment, case planning, organisation and delivery of service provision and interventions, reporting and engagement for families
  • Follow Assessment and Case Management procedures and standards and contribute to continual improvement of services
  • Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues and clients
  • Care coordination – Implement Case Plans, including advocating for, supporting and journeying with the family to achieve their desired outcomes
  • Work at all times to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required
Essential Criteria/ Qualifications/Skills
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage and/or extensive community and cultural connectedness and endorsement of a recognised local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Experience appropriate to the role and willingness to acquire qualifications
  • An awareness and understanding of Indigenous communities and cultures and the historical and contemporary issues relevant to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, and proven capacity to communicate appropriately
  • A demonstrated thorough knowledge of child protection issues, legislation and requirements and relevant issues specific to Indigenous children and families
  • Proficiency in MS Office, use of contemporary office equipment and data entry.
  • First aid and CPR (or willingness to acquire during probation)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence, Current Blue card, Police Check.
Preferred Criteria – Experience Family Wellbeing Officers will demonstrate experience in:

  1. Providing a relevant support service to vulnerable Indigenous families and Indigenous children
  2. Liaising efficiently with a range of services in particular social welfare, Court, Police, Legal and health agencies
  3. Program reporting and adherence to KPI’s
  4. Effectively using oral and written skills communication skills
  5. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, time management, team work and coordination skills in the office environment.
  6. Efficiently undertaking and completing administration tasks
  7. Providing an excellent customer service
