The Process of becoming a kinship carer

Care for children who are part of your own family group or have a significant relationship with the child.

1 Tell the Child Safety Office your wishes
2 Referral to CQID
3 Introductory meeting
4 Complete application
5 Assessment interviews in your home
6 Household safety check
7 Blue Card and Police checks for all adults in the home
8 Carer health and wellbeing check
9 Departmental approval
10 You’re now a kinship carer
