Home Interaction Program for Parents & Youngsters

Home-based early learning and parenting program for families with young children

This service is available in:

Home Interaction Program for Parents & Youngsters (HIPPY)

HIPPY is a free and fun learning program for parents and their young children. Families do easy, play-based activities together at home for about 10–15 minutes a day. Everything you need – like books and activity packs – is provided for free.

The program helps children get ready for school and builds their confidence and love of learning. Parents also get to meet other families, learn new things, and feel more connected to their community. Some parents even become HIPPY Tutors, helping deliver the program while building their own skills and confidence.

HIPPY is for families from all backgrounds and cultures. Priority is given to families who need extra support, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, culturally and linguistically diverse families (CALD), single parents, low-income households (with a Health Care Card), families with complex needs, and children in out-of-home care.

Who is this service for?

  • Have a child that is 3 years old or turning 3years old before the 1st July of the enrollment year.
